Six Senses Kanuhura is spread across three private islands in the Maldives, accessible by seaplane from Malé or speedboat from the Lhaviyani Atoll. Some may remember the original Kanuhura resort; the Six Senses era is marked not just by a substantial refurbishment but an expansion of the facilities and a general upgrade to what was already a thoroughly luxurious experience — all while preserving the integrity and the beauty of Kanuhura Island.

The accommodations range from couples-sized beachfront villas to larger “retreats” and “reserves,” many of them family-sized. And the water villas, with their thatched roofs and attached plunge pools, offer an overwater experience that’s as close to the ocean as you can get and still stay dry. At all levels they’re stylish in an understated tropical way, and they’re exquisitely comfortable and well-equipped.

One of the outlying islands is used for a private beach picnic, while the other is home to Drift, a restaurant specializing in grilled seafood. Back on Kanuhura Island you’ll find a few more restaurants, from the eclectic and versatile Market to the Italian-inspired Bottega. In classic Six Senses style the spa program is almost absurdly extensive, ranging from massages and manicures to yoga classes, private training, and the Biohacking Recovery Lounge. And the sea life of the Maldives is perhaps the ultimate attraction — the lagoon is paradise for diving and other water sports.

• Six Senses Kanuhura will be arranging Round-trip seaplane transfers between Male’s International Airport and the resort, which take just 35 minutes. A round-trip fare is USD 695 for adults, and USD 419 for children aged 2 to 11 (under 2 years of age travel for free); prices are inclusive of taxes. Seaplanes only operate during daylight hours, and to guarantee a same-day transfer, you’ll need to arrive in Malé before 3.30pm and depart after 9am. The baggage allowance is 20kg for checked luggage and 5kg for hand luggage; the charge for excess baggage is payable at the airport.

• All international flight details and all the guest names as listed in the passport must be advised by email at least 5 days prior to arrival.

• On Christmas Eve (24th Dec) and New Year’s Eve (31st Dec) there will be a mandatory supplement for Gala Dinner. Christmas Eve supplement is USD 450 per adult (12 years and above), USD 225 per child (6 to 11 years old). New Year’s Eve supplement is USD 550 per adult (12 years and above), USD 275 per child (6 to 11 years old). Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve supplement are inclusive of 10 percent service charge and 17 percent government service tax. Please note that check-out is not allowed on 30 or 31 December.

• Half-board rates are USD 155 (inclusive of tax) a person per day, and include a three-course dinner at the Market, Bottega, Sip & Sand and the Point. Full-board rates are USD 220 (inclusive of tax) a person per day, and also include a three-course lunch at the Point or Sip & Sand. Drinks aren’t included in meal plans, and children aged 6 to 11 get a 50% discount on board rates. Extra guests staying on a bed-and-breakfast are charged at USD 285 each a day (inclusive of tax).

• Eligible Hotelist Club reservations: Welcome amenities may be delivered to your room after you check in. A “Do Not Disturb” status may impact the delivery of these amenities.
