he Maldives are synonymous by now with the concept of overwater bungalows. As you may have gathered, life at Vakkaru Maldives is not exactly difficult. Upon arrival at Malé Airport you’ll be whisked to a separate seaplane terminal for the 25-minute flight to the island. (Or you’ll fly commercial to Baa Atoll, and arrive via speedboat). Your villa, whether on the beach or over the water, will contain all the luxe necessities, from espresso machines and Bluetooth audio to butler service. Some, incredibly, add private pools — for when the ocean isn’t quite enough — and at the high end they grow to palatial proportions, culminating in the four-bedroom Overwater Pool Residence.

Villas like these are hard to leave, but Vakkaru offers plenty of inducement, from the simple pleasures of the beach and the spa to the dive center, your ticket to the incredible undersea environment of Vakkaru’s lagoon. There’s even a marine biologist on staff, as well as excursions by speedboat or dhoni to watch dolphins or explore the surrounding atoll.

• The property is only accessible by Seaplane transfer that takes 30 minutes from Male International Airport. This is a mandatory additional cost (subject to applicable taxes) at:
• USD 950 net per person per stay
• USD 475 net per child per stay (Children 2-11.99 years)

• Additional person (beyond 2 people) can be accommodated according to the max occupancy of each room type. The supplement charge for additional people are as follows:
• Adult (12 years and above): USD 400 per person per night (exclusive taxes and fees)
• Child (2 to 11 years): USD 200 per child per night (exclusive taxes and fees)
• Infant (below 2 years): USD 6 per infant per night (for green tax) - baby cot is complimentary.
• Gala Dinners are held on December 24th and 31st. Guests will be charged the following:
• Christmas Eve: Additional USD 550 ++ per adult and USD 275 ++ for children aged 6 - 11 years
