Radio Hotel NYC

The most immediately arresting thing about Radio Hotel NYC has to be its location; this spot, in the corner of Washington Heights known as Little Dominican Republic, is at least 100 blocks uptown from the majority of Manhattan’s boutique hotels, which means it brings a much-needed dose of stylish hospitality to a part of the city that’s long gone without. The hotel itself is eye-catching as well, of course, its colorful structure towering above its surroundings, and its interiors decorated in an even more colorful contemporary style.

Radio’s rooms are a touch more sedate than its public spaces, the bedrooms minimalist but still handsome in neutrals and warm wood, setting up a stark contrast with the bathrooms, which are clad in ultra-saturated indigo-blue subway tiles. The spaces are highly efficient thanks to their modular modern furniture, and the views over this largely low-rise district are expansive. Downstairs, Jalao NYC serves Dominican-inspired flavors in a lively space, which opens onto El Patio, a courtyard space that’s tailor-made for summer nights.
