ené Favre was a Geneva architect with a collector's instinct. When he built the Rotary in 1976, he stocked it with antique furniture and objects from his own travels, and the aesthetic has held. The 85 rooms and 10 duplex suites on Rue du Cendrier, 150 meters from Lake Geneva, still carry that personal, cabinet-of-curiosities quality: Art Deco bones, vintage pieces, rooms that feel assembled over time. The bar pours wines that are 80 percent Genevan. The hotel also runs half-day watchmaking workshops with a master craftsman, an acknowledgment of what Geneva has been doing longer than anything else.
