Franciscan monastery built in 1896 in Wrocław's Karłowice district, converted into a hotel under the supervision of a heritage conservator with a clear directive: touch as little as possible. Ribbed vaulted ceilings, original brick, wooden staircases and stone sculptures remain as found, and the Franciscan sisters still occupy the left wing, their chapel with its colored frescoes and stained glass open for weddings and ceremonies. The fine dining restaurant sources almost entirely from local farms. Eighty-six rooms, a bookstore, an atelier and a summer terrace café looking onto the monastery park.
