The hotel in which it’s housed, Sonnhof by Vitus Winkler, is a family affair that goes back almost a century — Vitus and Eva-Maria are the fourth generation of Winklers to take the helm.The classic exterior, though meticulously maintained, shows its age by virtue of its traditional style. But inside, Sonnhof’s current custodians have left their own imprint. The interior spaces are sophisticated and modern, retaining elements that tie the hotel to its mountain setting but unified by a contemporary design sensibility. Nor are the other senses neglected; the rooms and suites are as comfortable as they are stylish, and then some.
Among the facilities the main attraction is no doubt Kräuterreich, the gourmet restaurant; it’s joined by a second, more casual kitchen and a swanky cocktail bar. Also present is an impressive wellness center with an infinity pool that’s positioned to make the most of the hotel’s mountain views.
