ight on Cortina's main corso, Eight is built around the bones of the former VIP Club, a name that carried real weight in this resort for decades. The interiors have gone in a dark, deliberately cinematic direction: walnut paneling, deep red upholstery, Pendleton-style blankets on the beds and low amber lighting that suits the mountain setting without resorting to the usual Alpine clichés. The spa looks out over the Tofane massif and has a sauna, Turkish bath, salt room, heated pool and ice waterfall. Ski slopes, boutiques and the best people-watching in the Dolomites are all a short walk along the corso.
