A place like the Ostria Inn, on the quiet side of the island of Naxos, just needs to get the atmosphere right, and the idyllic setting takes care of everything else. Here the rooms and suites are soothingly minimalist-chic, as you’d expect, with handcrafted gestures and modern details in roughly equal measure.

Some have views out to sea, while others are shrouded in gardens; a few come with plunge pools, while the two-bedroom Ostria Inn House has a proper swimming pool as well as a full kitchen. The restaurant, Alos, is set on a terrace overlooking the sea, and makes the most of fresh and seasonal Cycladic ingredients; meanwhile the beach is mere steps away.
