But a seaside escape it is, set on its own Crescent Beach overlooking Peconic Bay — and its 49 rooms and 16 outlying cottages have been thoroughly renovated, resulting in an aesthetic that marries the most desirable aspects of its 1920s founding and the elegant simplicity of the boutique-hotel era.With a tennis court, a swimming pool, and plenty of space for biking, paddleboarding, and sailing, it feels like a proper outdoor-oriented resort. But its size is modest enough that the atmosphere remains intimate, though more lively than sedate. (For sedate, there’s always the spa.) It’s a sociable place, just as it was always meant to be — the Crescent Bar, named after the beach, is a throwback classic with a menu that spans the whole of the Pridwin’s lifetime. And the Terrace, the Pridwin’s restaurant, is an expansive indoor-outdoor space with open-air seating and a front-row view of Crescent Beach and the bay.
