Today’s K Club, however, is more approachable than it used to be — still elegant, still luxurious, but no longer a throwback to the days when the gentleman’s game came with a strict dress code.Its rooms and suites are classic in style, their subtle modern comforts happily coexisting with antique and antique-inspired furnishings and the rich textures of a classic country house. At times the atmosphere recalls a French château, in keeping with the house’s original inspiration; the views of the river and the woods, however, are unmistakably Irish.
The golf courses are world-famous, and justifiably so — The K Club is the only place in Europe where you’ll find 36 holes designed by Arnold Palmer, and is accordingly the site of the Irish Open for 2023, 2025, and 2027. Meanwhile, those not addicted to golf may pursue another brand of strenuous idleness in the spa, partaking of a wide range of treatments and therapies. Restaurants and bars include the upscale Barton Grill, the Blue Martini Cocktail Bar, and the 1930s-styled Palmer Restaurant.
