It’s a refreshingly mature look, and lends just the right amount of gravity to the experience. The details are carefully chosen, and the rooms, while never crossing over into luxury-hotel opulence, are more than comfortable enough.
And while North Fork is a bit on the quiet side — complete with a quarter-mile of private beach — Sound View has plenty of social life built in. There’s a lobby lounge and a library, as well as a piano bar, featuring some impressive live acts — and the Halyard serves classic Northeastern fare featuring local seafood and produce, under the direction of a James Beard Award–winning chef.
