ny decent hotel is in a dialogue with its location; obviously what works in central London would be absurd in South Beach. But the Soho House concept has proved to be eminently adaptable, even while it retains its core appeal — for an illustration you couldn’t do much better than Soho Beach House Miami. It’s set right on Collins Avenue, surrounded by hotels of every size and style, but none of them are quite like this one, a private members’ club whose highly covetable services and facilities are the reason for the lodging’s existence.

The bedrooms are excellent, don’t get us wrong. Though they nod to their South Florida setting they feel eclectic and lived-in in the manner that’s common to Soho House properties. And with a mere 49 of them, the scale feels personal — there’s none of that sense that you’re just one box in a vast, repeating grid.

But the bonus of booking one is that it comes with club membership, which is no small thing. From there you have access to an absurdly well-equipped gym and spa, a beach club and a pair of swimming pools, one located on the eighth-floor rooftop terrace. And as a guest you’re not limited to Cecconi’s, the public restaurant, though for Northern Italian fare via South Beach you can’t beat it — you’ve also got the option of taking your meals in the more private indoor-outdoor Club.

• When checking in you need to be able to show a valid photographic proof of identity (drivers licence, passport or national ID card) as well as the debit or credit card used to make your booking. If you’re unable to produce this the hotel may terminate your booking without refund and you won’t be allowed to stay.

• Laptops can be used in Cecconi’s Drawing Room, The Snug, and the beach until 6pm. From Monday to Friday, laptops are also permitted in Ocho until 6pm.

• Phone calls, including those with headphones, can be taken on the beach, in Cecconi’s and the Drawing Room, as well as designated spaces throughout the club, including the top of the second-floor stairs.

• Photos are not permitted anywhere in the House, apart from Cecconi’s restaurant where they can be taken, as long as the flash is turned off.

• Seating and sunbeds at the main pool and rooftop pool are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The rooftop pool is for members aged over 21 only. Child members are permitted to use the main pool until 6pm from Monday to Friday, and until 12pm on Saturday and Sunday. Food and drinks are available to order all day. No outside food and drinks are allowed.

• The beach is open daily from 9am until an hour before sunset. Reservations are not required; chairs and daybeds are available on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to accommodate as many members as possible, we only provide two loungers per member on the beach. A limited amount of oceanfront beds can be reserved in advance. Food and drinks are available to order all day. No outside food and drinks are allowed.

• The gym is open daily from 7am to 8pm. Guests are not permitted in the gym, including any fitness classes. Classes can be booked in advance.

• The spa is open Thursday to Sunday from 9am to 7pm. Changing and relaxation rooms are open from 7am to 9pm. Treatments can be booked in advance. Guests can only use the locker room if they have a spa treatment booked.

• Anyone under the age of 21 must have a Child membership to access the House. Monday to Friday: child members are welcome in the pool area, Club Bar, Library, and private dining room until 6pm. Saturday and Sunday: child members are permitted in the pool area until 12pm, and in the Club Bar, Library, and private dining room until 6pm

• Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted in the House. Only ADA-certified service animals are allowed. Please note: service animals are not allowed on any of the furniture and must not be left unattended.

• Valet is $22 for members, $42 for non-members and $62 for overnight parking. Cecconi's Miami Beach guest parking is $32.

• Smoking is only permitted in the club staircase and Cecconi’s Smoking Den.
