Open seasonally from May 1 - October 15, Sonora Resort is the only resort on Sonora Island. on Sonora Island, part of a remote archipelago on Canada’s west coast. And while most make the trip here to see humpback whales and black bears in the wild, the fishing lodge-turned-luxury resort, with outdoor mineral pools, fly-fishing ponds, and a gorgeous spa, is a destination in itself.

A collection of timber buildings, each with common lounges featuring stone fireplaces and open-air hot tubs, house rooms lined in cedar and stone. All are outfitted in calming earth tones and feature large picture windows overlooking the sea, while a few freestanding lodge suites and villas, dramatically positioned on rocks over the water, offer more peace and privacy. Organic produce and locally caught seafood figure prominently on the restaurant’s menu, and it’s not uncommon to catch sight of a bald eagle from the resort’s ocean-facing dining room.

How to get there:
Sonora Resort is accessible by air or water. Regular scheduled flights (by helicopter and seaplane) operate between Vancouver and Sonora Resort. Private charter flights are also available from various locations in the PNW. Scheduled seaplane service is available from Seattle to Sonora Resort. Daily water taxi service is available from Campbell River on Vancouver Island. Please see the Need to Know section for more information.

• Remote yet accessible, Sonora is a 50-minute flight from Vancouver and 75 minute water taxi from Campbell River.
• Rates DO NOT INCLUDE transfers to/from the resort or activities, fees.

FLIGHTS
Schedule: available on Sun, Tue, Thu and Fri.
- Outbound flights depart Vancouver (from Sky Service, YVR near South Terminal) at 3:00pm.
- Return flights depart Sonora at 4:00pm. Flight duration = approximately 50 minutes.
Rate: $745 CAN each way, per person.
Good to know: Leave a minimum of 2 hours between the arrival time of your international flight and the departure time of your Vancouver flight.

WATER TAXI
Schedule: available daily
- depart Campbell River at 3:00pm
- depart Sonora at 1:00pm
Rate: $325 each way, per person.
Good to know: To get to Campbell River, you can book flights with Pacific Coastal or Central Mountain Air. Or take BC Ferries.

Kenmore Air seaplanes also offers flights from Lake Washington in Seattle. Flights must be reserved directly with Kenmore Air.

• Accommodation rates are full board (include meals and beverages such as house wine and beer) and include access to 5-star amenities including oceanside mineral pools, a tennis court, a 9-hole putting green, a 12-seat movie theatre, two fly fishing ponds and biking/hiking trails.

• Due to the significant rise in fuel costs globally over recent months, we will be implementing a 10% fuel surcharge on activities with high fuel consumption. This includes fishing, tide-to-table experiences, boat cruises, eco tours, and blind channel tours, as well as water taxi and helicopter transportation.
• For bookings made before May 1st, 2026, the fuel surcharge will be collected at checkout. For reservations after this date, the surcharge will be reflected on pre-stay invoices.
• This adjustment ensures that we can continue to deliver world-class services while supporting our local suppliers.
