Rustic wooden beams add character to the hotel’s beautifully restored, light-filled rooms and suites, which feature geometric wallpaper, patterned carpets, Hästens beds, modular furniture, and bathrooms lined in white stone. For a protected landmark, the aesthetic is surprisingly fresh, juxtaposing the unexpected: plush velvet, varnished wood, metallic finishes. The avant-garde air is mostly confined to the upper levels, however: the ground-level restaurant, where breakfast is served, is sophisticated but traditional, with ornate chandeliers, wood-plank flooring, and scenic views over the surrounding gardens.
