The Dominick

Much of New York’s SoHo is given over to century-old mid-rise formerly industrial structures, but the Dominick is something different — this mirror-like skyscraper towers over the neighborhood’s west side, offering views of the Hudson River and the city’s rooftops that are unusual for this corner of the city. That might be enough to make its reputation, but in fact the Dominick sets itself apart in other ways, as well. With interiors by the Rockwell Group and furniture by Fendi Casa, it’s a remarkably stylish hotel. And at 391 rooms and suites, it’s substantial enough to be able to support some impressive luxury-hotel services.

The accommodations benefit from floor-to-ceiling windows and marble bathrooms, and are perhaps sleeker and swankier than you might expect from the SoHo of cobblestone streets and artists’ lofts. The spa is a partnership with Paris’s well-known Sisley brand, and there’s a well-equipped modern gym as well as a personal-training program, and an outdoor pool on the seventh-floor terrace. The neighborhood is something of a crossroads, offering access not only to SoHo but to the West Village and Tribeca. And the Dominick’s restaurants serve locals as well as guests, from the poolside El Ta’Koy, a modern Asian-Hawaiian hybrid, to chef Shaun Hergatt’s artful Vestry, recipient of one MICHELIN Star.
