Kimpton St-Honoré

IHG’s Kimpton boutique-hotel brand, in its global era, has lost none of its affinity for spaces with unique personalities; the Kimpton St. Honoré Paris makes its home not in some purpose-built tower but in an existing fixture, a 1917 Art Nouveau stunner right around the corner from the Palais Garnier. It’s an eye-catching building, just a little bit more ornate than its neighbors, with details in turquoise, copper, and gold; once inside, however, you’ll find it’s been brought (respectfully) up to date by the Parisian designer Charles Zana.

The result is a little bit Déco and a little bit modernist, on top of the original Art Nouveau architecture; the look is stylish but not severe, in keeping with Kimpton’s welcoming, anti-elitist aesthetic. The rooms and suites posit an idealized version of Parisian apartment life, complete with gem-toned colors and more Déco-meets-modern design, and while it would be a stretch to call the spaces palatial, they’re generous by Parisian hotel standards.

A spa in partnership with Codage helps elevate the St. Honoré into luxury-boutique territory, along with a mosaic-tiled indoor pool. And on the theory that the city is already amply supplied with French cuisine, the hotel’s restaurant opts for a Californian-inspired menu, with plenty of plant-based options.
